Tell the leaders of Canada's political parties
that you care about peace in Darfur
Subject:
Please do something about the terrible violence in Darfur and the risk of war between North and South Sudan
Dear ___,
I am writing because I am very concerned about the terrible violence in Darfur and the threat of a return to devastating way between North and South Sudan. I believe that there is a great deal that the Canadian government could do to alleviate suffering, to protect civilians, and to built and reinforce peace. It is extremely alarming to see that there has been an increase in violence in South Sudan and increasing tensions between Northern and Southern leaders. Like many others, I fear that there will be a return to all out war between North and South Sudan. If this happens it will likely be the bloodiest and deadliest conflict that we have seen in many years. The Canadian government can do a lot to improve the situation in Sudan. Most importantly, there is much work to be done at a diplomatic level, especially in supporting the political processes that can increase the chances of lasting peace in Darfur and between North and South Sudan. We can also do a lot by supplying materials to peacekeepers and by providing life-saving humanitarian supplies and services. Please let me know what you and your party will do to address the grave situation in Sudan. Sincerely,
